Basic CSS Journal Template by quentinwrites Basic CSS Journal Template by quentinwrites
If you are looking for the more advanced version of this template go here.

A basic template for deviantART journals. Use ^thespook's reference to find out what each of the sections means.

Hex colours can be found here - just replace ------ with the colour code of your choice. Font pixel sizes should be pretty self-explanatory.

Click Download to get the text file to edit. Then once you have edited it, paste the code into the CSS part of your journal.

This feature is for subscribers/seniors only.

At some point I'll edit it to be the "Not-So-Basic CSS Journal Template" and include images, font faces, blah blah blah. For now this will have to do.

If you use this feel free to comment... I'm really interested in other peoples' colour schemes seeing as my own is so boring. ;)

Edit 27.09.2006 - Wow, thank you *rusty-nail and ^thespook for the DD... :D

Daily Deviation

Given 2006-09-27
So you're a subscriber (and for now, beta tester) or senior who now has the power to use CSS to make your journal look pretty. Perhaps you're new to CSS though, and don't know where to start - that's where Basic CSS Journal Template by =ghostlove will help. Use her template to get a quick foundation happening, and then go learn CSS to expand upon it! ( Suggested by rusty-nail and Featured by thespook )

Mind if I ask do you know how to add a second scroll box into a journal skin? like an extra box for stamps and such, but on the bottom of the journal

The framework has changed and evolved significantly since this was written; it's perfectly plausible that it simply isn't arranged like this any more.

I don't have a subscription yet, But i'm planning to get one up sooner or later and am looking ahead for Journal CSS and how to create them any stuff.

To get the font you want, does that need a code like colors do or do you just type in the font name?

And if you don't want a solid color for a backgrand or header, can you put pictures in there instead by using a URL or soem other picture code?

Just curious, sorry if this has been asked before ^.^"

I see everyone offering help to apply css to their journals, but is it possible to use it anywhere else? Like on the home page or in the galleries?

I don't believe so. You need to have a paid account to use it, anyway.

Well I'm about to take care of the paid account thing...and just so you know, in browsing for css templates, I came across quite a few that have created css for galleries.

Thank you for replying.

Oh yes I forgot you can do it for galleries now. :) But I don't think you can do anything with the front page apart from rearranging it.

Too bad. Even places like myspace will let you design your own profile page with templates that are really pretty much just plug and play so to speak. Oh well. I have downloaded several css templates that they say anyone can do, it' easy, etc but I still can't figure out how to make them work. Guess I'll just have to settle for the original layouts.

I think that's why they *don't* do that. MySpace is ugly to the point of nausea most of the time.

Finally I found a CSS that actually works! Sheeeeesh
