Literature Text

It is snowing.
The streets are velvet-white
the trees dusted as if with icing-sugar.

A woman: young, smiling
chattering to a baby in a buggy
wrapped warm against the frost.

He smiles at the snow, awestruck.
Virgin eyes devour the scene before him
as they plough along the pavement.

And they fade, you and I.
An empty, frozen space where we should be.

You won't meet the snow, this year.
Driving back from the hospital yesterday and this was all I could think about.
